The Macaria is a rather ugly, bulky ship and the 12th Fleet's lead sensor ship, built to pick up long-range signals and support rescued survivors. It is fast but weak ship to ship, so it relies on boarding when it has to fight, and most of its crew are medical staff and technicians decoding signals and running the Fleet's inter-ship switchboard. Its original captain was Harland O'Connors. ‹macaria#971423516819877908›
Inside, a reception desk leads off to the bridge and the ship's interior, with colour-coded lines on the floor. The yellow one runs below the power core to the Communication Hub, run by the VI "5-1", Transmission Master, and the shuttle bay holds four scouting shuttles. It also carries a survey sensor array. ‹macaria#971471397937356830›
Command
Mordred took command on 12/7/3200, with Rodriguez as his executive officer and Akira Aurius as head of the bridge department. Akira soon asked to resume the rank of Lieutenant Commander and set up the Fleet's ELINT division aboard, with Mike Steamblocker as second in command, and Tac Manley later woke the old AI GONK / Lt. Garvin in the ELINT lab. ‹macaria#987515658696802354› ‹macaria#990009624730161212› ‹macaria#993926951800672377›
After Mordred's reassignment the acting captaincy passed in the end to Akira, who still held it during the Lair revolt in fortnight 7 of 3201.
In service
The Macaria was the Fleet's eyes. In Ragnhil its scans found eight or so salvage ships in the debris, power signatures on both moons and the Aquitaine's distress call, and Spacer Ryan McAlan decoded a compad holding the blueprints for a mobile shipyard. Over Calypso its sensors and a drone found the giant warp gate hidden in orbit. ‹macaria#996195404339232828› ‹macaria#996737828467785738›
The Battle of Calypso
At the Battle of Calypso Commodore Steamblocker was acting captain, fighting the Vehendrix battleships Iodine and Clementia. When an enemy bombardment raised a tsunami towards the settlement, the crippled Macaria was landed in its path and its core sacrificed to protect the city. ‹macaria#1079428874942808164›
